Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about VocaBox.

Which devices does VocaBox run on?

VocaBox is available for iPhone and iPad (iOS) as well as Android phones and tablets. The app is optimized for large screens.

Do I need a subscription?

No. VocaBox has no subscription. Extra features are one-time purchases and stay yours forever.

How many words can I store?

Up to 100,000 words — organized in boxes and folders, with an image for every word.

Can I import word lists from Excel?

Yes. The XLSX import lets you import entire lists from Excel files. The manual explains how it works.

Can I share my lists with others?

Yes. Word lists can be exported as a file and shared with classmates, study groups or students — they simply import the file into their app.

Is my data backed up?

Your vocabulary is stored locally on your device. The backup feature lets you save it and transfer it to a new device.

Is there automatic sync between devices?

No, not currently. Your vocabulary is stored locally on your device — there is no account and no cloud. With a backup, however, you can take your complete data to a new device, including between iOS and Android.

Can I transfer my purchase from iOS to Android (or the other way round)?

No. Purchases go through the respective store (App Store or Google Play) and are tied to your Apple or Google account — they cannot be transferred between the two stores. Within the same store you can restore your purchases on a new device at any time. Your vocabulary itself moves to any platform via backup.

What is the vacation break?

The vacation break pauses the flashcard box so due words don’t pile up while you’re away. It stays active until you end it — your streak keeps running normally.

Can I take words out of the flashcard box?

Yes. You can exclude whole boxes from the flashcard box, and words you answer correctly several times move to the archive automatically — they leave the rotation but stay in your collection. The manual has the details.
